Templates vs template parts

Templates define a whole page type. Parts (header, footer) are reusable pieces you slot into templates. Editing a part updates every template that uses it.

Patterns

Patterns are pre-designed block layouts — hero sections, pricing tables, testimonials. Insert them anywhere with one click, then customise.

Theme-specific patterns

Block themes ship their own patterns. You can also save any group of blocks as a reusable pattern of your own.

Keeping it consistent

Use Global Styles (Editor → Styles) for colours and typography so every block, pattern and page stays consistent automatically.
