The scene is full of traps
The modding scene is genuinely useful - and genuinely dangerous. Fake "jailbreak any firmware" services, infected homebrew packs, and forum advice from people who have never opened a console are all waiting to cost you money or brick a machine. This lesson is your defence.
The scam shapes

Malware in homebrew
- Download only from official projects or trusted community sources
- Verify checksums published by the project maintainers
- Run new tools on a throwaway or backed-up console first
- Never run random payloads or "tools" from chat links and ads
Bad advice
Forums are full of confident wrong answers: "just reflow it", "update then jailbreak", "this tool fixes everything". Treat every claim as a hypothesis you verify against the official documentation, the console model and your own measurements.
Tip: Bookmark the official project sites and reputable community hubs. When in doubt, ask in the official community - not in random comment sections.
