About this course

The PlayStation 3 is a complex, powerful machine - the Cell processor, the RSX graphics chip, the Blu-ray drive and a hard drive you can upgrade all inside one black box. Millions are still in homes, repair shops and classrooms, and they still fail in predictable ways. This hands-on course turns you into a confident PS3 technician.

Starting from the inside out, you will learn the hardware that makes the PS3 tick, how to open it safely, how to clean it and keep the thermal system healthy, and how to diagnose the classic faults - no power, yellow light, disc read errors, dead controllers and lost video - before fixing them.

You will also learn the legal side of firmware. You will understand the difference between official firmware, custom firmware and HEN, what homebrew really is, what the law allows, and what it does not. No dodgy advice, no piracy links - just honest, technician-focused guidance.

By the end you will be able to service a PS3 from open to close, explain its faults clearly, keep it cool and clean, and manage its storage, saves and game library the right way.

Requirements

A PlayStation 3 console to practise on (any model)
- Basic hand tools: cross-head screwdrivers and a Torx security set
- Thermal paste, 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush
- A clean, well-lit workspace
- No prior repair experience needed - we start from zero
