About this course

Great software starts with great data design. This course teaches you to design databases properly: entities, relationships, entity-relationship diagrams, normalisation, keys and common design patterns — before you write a single line of SQL.\n\nYou will design databases for a school, a shop and an LMS from scratch, and learn to avoid the mistakes that plague real-world projects.

What you'll learn

Model real-world things as entities and attributes\n- Map relationships: one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-many\n- Draw entity-relationship diagrams\n- Apply normalisation up to 3NF\n- Choose primary keys, foreign keys and indexes\n- Design for performance and growth\n- Avoid classic design mistakes\n- Work through real case studies end to end\n- Download a PDF guide with every lesson
